One of the oldest names in the watch industry, Favre Leuba marked its comeback a year ago at Geneva Watch Days 2024, when Patrik Hoffmann and his team unveiled a strategy focused on offering affordable yet high-value, vintage-inspired watches. Now, one year later, Favre Leuba is taking a slightly different direction, presenting a more technical creation (besides the Chief Tourbillon), a daring version of the Chief, reimagined in a modern skeletonised version.

According to the brand, this new model in the Chief collection is the first fully skeletonised Favre Leuba wristwatch. Showcasing the distinctive Chief cushion-shaped case, it houses a modern openworked movement available in two versions: either a steel case with a gold-coloured movement or a black DLC-steel case with a black chrome finish movement.

The Chief Skeleton remains faithful to the line’s signature silhouette. Its versatile cushion-shaped case with recessed flanks still measures 40mm across, though it is slightly thicker at 11.76mm (compared to 10.81mm) to accommodate the new skeletonised calibre. Crafted in steel or black DLC-coated steel, the case features a dynamic interplay of brushed surfaces and polished accents that highlight its distinctive shape. The integrated lug design creates a seamless, flowing profile. The screw-down crown ensures a reliable water-resistance of 100 metres.

The main novelty is obviously the skeleton movement developed in collaboration with AMT Manufacture, the sister company of Sellita, which focuses on higher-grade, proprietary developments. The multi-layered architecture of this modern take on the classic skeleton centres around its balance wheel at 6 o’clock, held in place by an elegant, horizontally brushed bridge. The openworked barrel allows you to discover the mainspring coils. The geometric bridges are available in either a 4N gold colour or a black chrome finish. The different textures and colours add a compelling sense of depth. Turning the watch over, the rotor is skeletonised too. The FLS01 (gold finish) and FLS02 (black finish) calibres run at 28,800 vibrations/hour, and their power reserve is rated at 41 hours.

The Favre Leuba Chief Skeleton comes on an integrated FKM rubber strap whose colour matches that of the watch’s flange. A quick-release strap mechanism allows you to change the look of your watch in just seconds. The pin buckle is emblazoned with the Favre Leuba logo.

7 different variations are available. Priced at CHF 3,450, the steel version with gold movement is available with either a green, blue, or black minute track. The DLC steel case with black movement is available with either a green, blue, black, or ice blue minute track and retails for CHF 3,550.
