With Watches and Wonders Geneva 2022 fast approaching, brands are pre-releasing selected models to whet our appetite. Among them, Czapek (the brand will be releasing more models during the fair) has unveiled two new versions of its Faubourg de Cracovie Chronograph with original dial colours and finishings. Meet the Czapek Faubourg de Cracovie Chronograph Purple Panda and California Blue limited editions.
The Purple Panda edition sticks to the brand’s exclusive Résonance guilloché pattern that uses concentric circles originating from the two sub-dials at 3 and 9 o’clock, which intersect to create a distinctive pattern in relief. For the occasion, it is tinged in purple with contrasting silver-coloured chronograph registers. The California Blue comes with a grené finish, and, as its name suggests, it features a California-style dial with a mix of Roman and Arabic numerals (just like the previous California Dreamin’ edition). At the periphery of the dial, the tachymeter scale adds a sporty touch.
Both watches are presented in a 41.5mm steel case with a slightly raised box sapphire crystal. The chronograph pushers are integrated around the crown guards so they do not protrude, creating a compact feel. The lugs have carved flanks. The transparent caseback is secured by seven screws and the water-resistance is rated at 50m.
Inside is the automatic calibre SHX3, a modern high-grade chronograph movement. Its architecture integrates a column-wheel and vertical clutch. Made with Vaucher Manufacture, this high-frequency movement runs at 5 Hz or 36,000vph and its precision is certified by the COSC. Its power reserve is of 65 hours when fully wound. The modern technical-looking finish is based on anthracite sandblasted and diamond polished bridges. The golden rotor is skeletonised.
The Purple Panda and the California Blue Faubourg de Cracovie are released in two limited editions of 18 pieces each. Their rubber or alligator leather straps are fitted with a steel folding buckle. The price is set at CHF 29,000.
