Swiss independent watchmakers Norqain have made quite an impression in only a short amount of time. The brand offers a wide range of sports-oriented mechanical watches with either outsourced or proprietary movements. With three collections on offer (Adventure, Freedom, Independence), there are plenty of options in terms of complications, sizes, and colours. And the colour is what matters most in this new special edition. Today, on International Women’s Day 2022, it launches the Norqain Adventure Sport 37mm Purple.
International Women’s Day is a global day dedicated to accelerating a more gender-equal world, whether that’s on a social, economic, cultural or political. Each year it revolves around a central theme, this year being #BreakTheBias. On March 8th, annually, people around the world celebrate women’s achievements, raise awareness about equality, lobby for accelerated gender parity and raise funds for charities. Norqain has chosen to partake in the IWD and celebrates with this striking adaptation of the Adventure Sport.
The Norqain Adventure Sport 37mm Purple isn’t to be mistaken for a vanity item. Oh no, it’s still a proper mechanical watch designed according to Norqain’s philosophy. It comes with a 37mm steel case (not surprising), a rotating bezel with diving scale, sapphire crystal on both sides and a good 100m water-resistance. And again, not surprising, a purple dial with that special Norqain pattern and gold-plated hands and indices.
Mechanically speaking, it relies on the automatic Norqain Calibre NN08, which is a Sellita SW 200-1 at heart. This reliable movement can be seen through the back and offers 38 hours of autonomy. It indicates the hours, minutes, seconds and the date (with quick-adjustment). It’s worn on a steel bracelet or black rubber strap and costs CHF 1,990 (black rubber strap) or CHF 2,190 (steel bracelet).
