A. Lange & Söhne Grand Lange 1 Moon Phase

In the past 24 years, A. Lange & Söhne have grown from the remains of the Eastern Germany era, to become a major watch brand. In just 24 year, actually 20 since the first models were introduced, Lange has become synonym with prestigious Haute Horlogerie, mouth-watering chronographs and of course the iconic Lange 1. Calendar complication have been part of the collection, almost since the beginning, however just this year the German brand decided to put the spotlights on the moon phase complication with the introduction of the Grand Lange 1 Moon Phase and the Richard Lange Perpetual Calendar “Terra Luna.”

This year A. Lange & Söhne also celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Lange 1. An iconic timepiece that gained popularity and respect from connoisseurs very fast. In just 20 years the Lange 1 has become the German equivalent of the Patek Philippe Calatrava – a watch that has been in production since 1932. In this Weekly Watch Photo installment we’re going to share photos of the various Lange watches with a moon phase indication. Including of course the Grand Lange 1 Moon Phase that we introduced to you in December of last year.

The Grand Lange 1 Moon Phase sets itself apart from the ‘normal’ Lange 1 Moon Phase in more than one way. Of course it’s bigger and therefore called ‘Grand Lange 1’, instead of just ‘Lange 1’. The Grand Lange 1 Moon Phase also has a larger moon phase indication, and it is positioned inside the hours/minutes sub dial, while on the Lange 1 Moon Phase this indication is inside the seconds sub-dial. For comparison you can check the normal Lange 1 Moon Phase here on the Lange & Söhne website.

These are 8 different models, which come in various metals and dials, depending on the case material.
