Pre Baselworld 2014: Introducing… or Teasing? A Mind-Boggling Creating from Jacob & Co called the Astronomia Tourbillon

| By Frank Geelen | 1 min read |

Jacob & Co are not perse known for understated elegance. Their usual game features a high degree of bling and they’re also not shy of battery driven watches. Yep, that’s a whole lotta things that do not automatically match with what we at Monochrome Watches are trying to select for you. Today however, they launched a teaser video and this is something that we cannot withhold from you: the Jacob & Co Astronomia Tourbillon.

Jacob & Co have been working on a mind-boggling tourbillon watch. The Astronomia Tourbillon features a tourbillon, that looks like a triple axis tourbillon. It is on one end of a cross-shaped axis, with a dial with hands on the far other end of that same axis. The cross axis features (what seems to be) a HUGE rotating diamond on one end, and a rotating Earth on the other end.

We’ll have to await Baselworld for more specifications, however judging from the video, the entire gear trains, differential gearing systems and of course the indication of time (hour and minute hand, on a dial) is visible through (what looks to be) a domed sapphire crystal. I’ll be looking forward to seeing this magical marvel at work!
